Deer Run Golf Club
This 18-hole, par 72 course, located on Hwy 92 on the west edge of Indianola, covers 200 + scenic acres including a 16 acre lake. Warm-up for your round on Deer Run's 52 station practice range and putting green. For more information, (515) 961-5445.

Indianola Golf and Country Club
Indianola Country Club is a private 18 hole golf club established in 1920. The course expanded from 9 to 18 holes when the new west nine was opened for play in the spring of 2004. The course is kept in excellent condition by Superintendent Joe Burke. Members enjoy the relaxed casual atmosphere in the clubhouse. Des Moines Metro Opera, Inc.
Indianola is proud to be the home of The Des Moines Metro Opera, founded in 1973 by Dr. Robert Larsen and the late Douglas Duncan. The Company's budget has grown from $22,000 to nearly $2 million and is now one of the most respected performing arts organizations in the state. Wesley Woods Camp & Retreat Center
Wesley Woods is a 344 acre year round Christian facility with modern lodges, meeting rooms, and great food in a beautiful natural setting next the Lake Ahquabi. Canoeing, Sailing, Horseback Riding, and fishing are just some of the various activites offered by the trained staff.

Lake Ahquabi State Park
This scenic 770-acre park provides a number of recreational opportunities including swimming, fishing and camping. There are also many shelters and picnic areas scattered around the park. An eight mile hiking trail circles the lake and there several other senic foot trails through the woods. Canoes, paddle boats and kayaks are availiable for rent.

Moats Park
This four-acre park includes a softball field, basketball courts, a shelter and playground equipment.

North Jefferson & Girard Avenue

Pickard Park
This large city park is spread over 160 acres. An 18-hole disc golf course is a unique attraction to the park. Pickard also has softball fields, horseshoe courts, hiking trails, picnic areas and a greenhouse. There is also a camping area.

Memorial Park
This 13 acre park is the site of Indianola's skate park which includes a halfpipe, mini-spine snake run, two waterfalls and much more. The Indianola Memorial Aquatic Center is also located at this park. Memorial Park also has an ampitheater, picnic shelters and playground equipment.

North G Street & West Euclid

McCord Park
This park is set on 16.2 acres of land and includes hiking trails, playground equipment, a shelter and a sand volleyball court.

South P Street & West Fifth Avenue

Recreational Trails

Summerset Trail
This scenic bike trail spans 11 miles from Indianola to Carlisle. It takes cyclists through the beautiful countryside crossing 14 bridges.

McVay Trail
This tree-lined biking or walking trail spans 1.6 miles from East Fifth Street to Pickard Park.

Opera & Theatre

Theatre Simpson
Theatre Simpson is a dynamic community that views theatre as an avenue for personal discovery, self-discipline, creative expression and artistic excellence. Theatre Simpson mounts three faculty directed productions and a festival of student produced short plays each year. The theatre department is housed in Blank Performing Arts Center which has two performance spaces: Pote Theatre, a 500-seat combination thrust and proscenium and the Barnum Studio Theatre, a 125-seat, flexible black box.
