Indianola Chamber Of Commerce Committees
The Indianola Chamber of Commerce is highly dependent on our volunteers.  Without their dedication and hard work many of the community activities would not be the success that they have become nor would the community benefit from the vision that these volunteers provide.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call the Chamber office at 961-6269 and we’ll put you to work!

Tourism Committee
The Tourism Committee is responsible for promoting the Indianola community and events. This committee actively targets group tour promoters, vacationers, tournaments and others visiting the area. This group is responsible for promotional brochures, and all media advertisements.

Summer Celebration
This great event has been combined with The Annual Arts & Crafts Festival.

Relight Indianola Committee
This committee coordinates "Touring the Traditions," Indianola’s Holiday Tour of Homes, featureing five Indianola homes decorated for the holidays. The event, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Simpson Guild, is held annually as a fund-raiser on a Friday evening and Saturday during December. Since 1991, the Relight Committee has used the profits from the tour to purchase the lighted Christmas wreath decorations which are hung each holiday season along Indianola’s highways and around the square. Simpson Guild assists in the promotion of this event and has used the proceeds to purchase decorative wreaths for the Simpson campus. In 2002 the committee purchased "Welcome" banners which were hung during the late summer and early fall. The Relight committee also sponsors a Garden Tour in June - an opportunity to tour five area gardens (meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month)

Indianola Arts & Crafts Committee
The Indianola Arts & Crafts Festival Committee is responsible for organizing this yearly Festival. The Festival, held in conjunction with the National Balloon Classic, is held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the first Saturday of the Classic around the Indianola town square. Typically more than 100 artists and crafters from around the mid-west exhibit their hand made items each year. In addition there are other events including the National Balloon Classic Parade, food vendors, local talented dancers, singers and tumblers, which make for a festive day-long event.

Holiday Extravaganza Committee
The Holiday Extravaganza & Lighted Parade Committee is responsible for organizing this yearly event. The Holiday Extravaganza is held the third Friday of November from 5:30to 8:00 p.m., around the Indianola town Square. The event provides a chance to kick off a wonderful time of year with horse drawn wagon rides, shopping, caroling, and visits with the Jolliest Elf of them all. Children's hearts light up as they share their holiday wishes with Santa and then experience the wonderful feeling of giving. Each child that visits with Santa is then helped into the Childrens Christmas store to shop for their parents in a safe environment run by our Indianola Noon Lions Club. Each Child can choose two items to those special people in their lives. Items are donated to the chamber so that these children can experience the gift of giving. Other special events include living windows and many musical groups in businesses around the square(meets February-November)

This larger committee has several sub-committees, these sub-committees are seeking new volunteers yearly.

Golf Classic Committee
The Golf Classic Committee is responsible for organizing this yearly tournament. The Annual Indianola Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic is held each year in mid-June as a Chamber fund-raiser. The Classic includes 18 holes of golf, food and drink, excellent prizes and gifts. The committee members work to organize and make contacts for prizes ensuring a fun and successful event for all who participate. (January-June)

Education Committee
The Education Committee serves as the Community’s school-to-work linkage. Each year, the Committee awards two $250 scholarships, one each to an Indianola High School senior boy and girl. This committee also sponsors and awards the Educator of the Year recognition at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. (meets the third Wednesday of every month)

Ambassador Committee
It is the intent of the Indianola Chamber of Commerce to assist the membership in promoting their individual businesses to the greatest extent possible within the Chamber guidelines.

The Ambassador Committee was established for that purpose. The Ambassadors serve as the viable and visible "goodwill arm" of the Chamber. They are instrumental in the promotion of the Chamber and its members and constantly set a positive stage for the new membership growth and existing membership retention.

Their primary functions are as follows:

Attend Mixers and General Breakfast Meetings.
Attend ribbon cuttings and other special occasion events.
Attend monthly Ambassador Committee Meetings.
Assist with new membership drives.
Assist with retention membership drives.
Assist with other events in promotion of the Indianola Chamber of Commerce, as requested by the President.
Attendance and participation is the key in becoming a successful Indianola Chamber of Commerce Ambassador.

Ambassadors meet the 1st Wednesday of each month
